Help us protect the future of midwifery’s history.
The Royal College of Midwives Heritage Collections provides a permanent home for the personal papers and artefacts of midwives, which range from case registers, notebooks, and diaries to uniforms, badges and medical instruments of midwives who practised across the UK, providing an insight into childbirth and how the role of midwives has changed over the twentieth century.
We regularly receive donations of collections from members of the public, including retired midwives and families of deceased midwives. Our Archive, Museum and Library permanently houses, cares for and exhibits these collections, making them available to researchers and the general public.
All donations are subject to review by Heritage staff and are assessed according to our service’s Collections Development Policy.
